The New Inn, Pwllmeyric

A popular watering hole on the A 48 and dating back to at least the 16th century and has Tudor arch doorway which separated the hall and parlour rooms.

Tradition has it that the New Inn was built by the bishops of Llandaff for pilgrims who owned land at nearby Mathern.

Viscount Torrington visited Wales in the summer of 1787 and his memoirs recount many of his visits to Welsh inns (many of them not to his liking!)  The following extract is similar to his other wonderings in Wales:
‘but e’er I had gone three miles, a violent shower drove me into a small public house, the new Inn at Poulmick for shelter’

A family pub with large enclosed children’s play area.

Nearby attractions include St Pierre golf course.
