Teifi Netpool Inn, St Dogmaels

Teifi Netpool Inn, St DogmaelsThe Teifi Netpool Inn is located on the Wales Coastal path in St. Dogmaels, west Wales and has a rich tradition of salmon fishing where seine nets in former times were used to be hung to dry or repaired.  Local fishermen would draw lots outside the inn to determine where they fished that day.

Formerly known as the Tivy and from 1891 to 1949 the Teifi was run by David Thomas who died in May of that year aged 94.

At one time the Teifi had a brewhouse and cowshed and was surrounded by farmland which was later used for council housing.

The decline in the salmon fishery coincided with the dwindling pub trade and by 1937 ‘the business done is very small except during the summer months when it is a little better’
Thankfully trade picked up and an extension was built onto the inn during the mid 20th century.

By the 21st century entertainment at the Teifi includes quiz evenings and has a successful pool and darts teams.

The Teifi has its own children’s play area and is apopular with walkers and cyclists alike.

Serving a fine selection of real ales including local Welsh breweries - Kite Brewery of Gorslas, Carmarthenshire, Celt Brewery of Caerphilly, Wye Valley Brewery, Breconshire Brewery and the Heart of Wales Brewery of Brecon.
