The Royal Sportsman Hotel, Porthmadog
The Royal Sportsman Hotel was built in 1862 and is located in Porthmadog in the Snowdonia National Park. It was a former coaching inn and has kept its original charm after being refurbished in 2009. Past visitors had been transported by stage coaches to their final destinations. The Royal is a three storey Hotel with 28 guest rooms, with the Hotel having been extended and modernised in recent times.
An open fireplace burning log fires during the winter months a big hit with the locals and travellers like. The bar of the Royal is named after Gelert, the legendary dog associated with Beddgelert, and the mural above the bar is painted by a local artist. Original framed copies of the town can be seen on walls.
Conveniently situated to explore Snowdonia and the surrounding areas.
