The Mount Pleasant Inn, Hirwaun
Submitted by PCE on
The family run Mount Pleasant Inn located close to Hirwaun is steeped in history and has undergone extensive refurbishment in the last few years.
The inn is known locally as ‘The Black’ owing to its historical links with the Black Lion Sidings which at one time controlled coal leaving Merthyr Vale Colliery.
During the 1860s stock auctions were held at Castell Coryn which was located close to the Mount Pleasant Inn. Refreshment was taken prior and after these auctions.
Prime location for walkers and cyclists of the Brecon Beacons National Park and area also renowned for hand gliding and paragliding.
The beer garden offers splendid views over the Cynon valley.
