The Potters Arms, Newport

The Potters Arms has close links with the restaurant of the same name next door.  It stands on the site of the old Friars Pump and was fined a £1.00 in 1876 for permitting gaming and skittles.
At one time it belonged to the Anglo Bavarian Company but in 1921 the freehold was bought by Mrs G.A. Jones who went on to have a long association with the Potters.  Her son refurbished the premises in the late 1940s
